Tillandsia caput medusae
Air plant: Tillandsia Caput Medusa
This is quite a special airplant. This tillandsia with the name 'Caput Medusae' is a very unique one. The airplant has tentacles as leaves. These tentacles have tichoms. Trichoms are small grey hairs that al also called leaf scales. Through the leaf scales the tillandsia gets it's water. The trichomes also help protect the airplant from burning from direct sunlight.
After a while this airplant gets curled tentacles, which looks really nice! The bigger the tillandsia, the more curls it gets. This also means he is going to need a little bit more water of you can put him is a rainwater bath for an hour or so.
Don't put your tillandsia in a lot of direct sunlight. But it does grow best in a light spot! You can spray some water on the Tillandsia once a week. If you decide to put the airplant in a bath with water, make sure the water is luke warm. Make sure you shake the water off after the bath and to let it dry upside down so there is no water in between the leaves.
Difference in size bewteen Tillandsia Caput Medusae medium and large:
Large has a more round and big bottom. Also it's tentacles are longer and a bit more curled. Whereas medium is a bit smaller with fewer and shorter leaves. Medium is about 10 cm in length
Attention: every airplant is unique which means they can differ from the one in the photo. Little imperfections are 'normal'.
